President Sassoli to visit Lithuania-Belarus border during tour of the Baltic States 
 

European Parliament President will today begin a four-day visit to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia

On Tuesday 17 August, the President will meet with Belarussian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Vilnius. The following morning, 18 August, he will meet with the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, and Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.

In the afternoon, he will visit the Belarussian - Lithuanian border alongside the speakers of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Parliaments. He will then meet with NATO troops based in the country.

On Thursday 19 August, the President will be in Riga to take part in an event with young Europeans. He will then have meetings with the Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece and President of Latvia Egils Levits.

The President will then travel to Tallinn, where on Friday 20 August he will take part in celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Estonia’s independence. He will have meetings with the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Riigikogu Jüri Ratas, and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
