Propuesta de Sassoli a la Conferencia de Presidentes: Reintroducir el régimen de participación a distancia a partir de la próxima semana

Statement by EP President on measures in response to rising COVID cases across Europe

Members of the European Parliament will again be able to participate in debates and votes remotely as of next week. That was the proposal tabled by the European Parliament President today in response to rising COVID-19 cases across Europe. In an email to all MEPs, President Sassoli said:

“Over the past two weeks, the overall epidemiological situation within the Union has deteriorated, with case notification rates, hospital admissions, and other indicators increasing.
“In recent days, I have listened to concerns raised by many of you. I have also consulted the Secretary General and the Medical Service on the matter in order to prepare the best possible response to new developments.
“Today, I have submitted for approval to the Conference of Presidents a proposal to reintroduce the remote participation regime in Parliament, to be applicable as of next week. Once approved, Members will be able to participate remotely in debates and votes in plenary and in committees.”
