Sassoli to attend ceremony in Athens on 40th anniversary of Greece’s accession to EEC 
 

President of the European Parliament visits Athens on 27 and 28 May

The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, will visit Athens on Thursday and Friday, 27-28 May, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Greece’s accession to the European Economic Community (EEC). On Thursday evening, President Sassoli will attend the official Ceremony in Zappeion Hall marking the anniversary and deliver a speech.

Before the Ceremony, Sassoli will meet the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou, as well as the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In addition, Sassoli will visit the Hellenic Parliament to meet Speaker Constantine Tassoulas and to address the parliamentary committees on EU and Foreign Affairs during a joint session.

During his visit, President Sassoli will also visit the charity organisation for children in need “The Ark of the World” and meet its founder Father Antonios Papanikolaou.
