100 years from Rocco Chinnici's birth and 85 years from the birth of Paolo Borsellino, the European Parliament honoured their memory.
Dear fellow Members,
A hundred years have passed since the birth of Rocco Chinnici and 85 since that of Paolo Borsellino.
Their boundless courage in fighting the Mafia and their tenacity in defending the rule of law continue to be a source of inspiration today – in Italy and throughout Europe.
I want to honour together with you, in this Chamber, their memory and that of all those who have given everything so that we could live in a fairer, safer and freer society.
